Playing
Who is Obean for?
Friends and family aged 16 and over. You confirm it once, before your first game.
Do I need an account?
No. You type a name and play. Obean remembers your name on this device for next time.
How do we play another mission?
After a match the host picks the next mission in the room. A win opens the next one, and everyone stays in the room.
Rooms and invites
My friend's link doesn't work
Invite links last 24 hours. Ask your friend to make a new one from their room, or make your own room and send your link.
The link in my address bar doesn't work for my friend
The room's address isn't an invite. Send the link from Invite a friend in the room (Share link or Copy link), or show its QR code to someone next to you.
Can a friend join while we're playing?
Yes. They open the invite link and wait in the room, and the next match the host starts includes them.
Can strangers join my room?
Only people with your link can join, and the host can remove anyone from the room.
Voice and chat
We can't hear each other
Allow the microphone when the browser asks, and check that each of you turned voice on. The game keeps working without voice, and chat is always there.
Devices and browsers
Which browsers work?
Chrome or Edge 85 and later, Safari 15 and later (iOS 15), and Firefox 90 and later. Older browsers see a message asking to update.
The game is slow on my phone
Close other apps and tabs. If it stays slow, tell us the phone model: it helps us tune the game.
Payments and refunds
What's free, and what does Obean Pass add?
Playing solo and joining friends' rooms are always free, and so is hosting a room a day, or three when you sign in. Obean Pass removes ads for you and everyone in rooms you host, lets you host as many rooms as you like, and unlocks the Pass missions for everyone in your room.
Why do I see ads?
Ads help keep Obean free. Without the Pass you may see a small one at the top of the game screen, never over the game. With the Pass you see none, and neither does anyone in a room you host.
Does everyone in the room need the Pass?
No. One person in the room with the Pass unlocks the Pass missions for everyone.
How do I cancel?
On your account page (obean.com/me), choose Manage or cancel. You keep the Pass until the end of the period you paid for. You can also cancel from the receipt Stripe emailed you, through Link.
Who handles the payment?
Stripe sells the Pass for us, through Link, and emails the receipts. Keep them: they're the fastest way for us to find your Pass. Obean never sees your card.
Privacy and your data
Do ads track me?
No. Ads on Obean are chosen by the game you're playing, not by tracking you, and the website's pages never show ads.
How do I delete my data?
On the Make a room page (obean.com/new), choose Delete my data. It's instant and removes your name from every room and result, and any messages you sent us from this browser.
Safety and reporting
How do I report someone?
Use Report in the room. It sends the right details with your report. You can block people there too, and the host can remove them.
